The bane of my life - Procrastination

Hey guys,

This has been a very productive week for me with plenty of focus and deep work but there is also a darker side to it. Something I deal with every day and have done so pretty much all my life; Procrastination.

I had the wrong ideas about procrastination and have been trying to solve it with the wrong methods; apps, gadgets, time management etc. My research and understanding of the topic have led to some stark realisations.

I have collected all my research in this article here. Check it out.

I hope this will help you deal with the issue.

Stay awesome and have a great week ahead 🙂

♥️ My Favourite Things This Week

🎸 Music -Coke Studio Season 14. I am really excited about this season, produced by Xulfi. So far it is very promising and I am hoping they continue to deliver. For those who don’t know; Coke Studio is the Pakistani version of the international music franchise which features studio-recorded music performances by established and emerging artists. It is the longest-running annual television music show in Pakistan, running annually since 2008.

🎙️ Podcast -The Tim Ferriss Show; Rich Roll — #561 Reinventing Your Life at 30, 40, and Beyond. What a great episode with lots of lessons and a great story. The very idea of awareness, recovery, discipline and persistence.
At age 40, Rich Roll (@richroll) made the decision to overhaul the sedentary throes of overweight middle age. Walking away from a career in law, he reinvented himself as a globally recognized ultra-distance endurance athlete, bestselling author, and host of the wildly popular Rich Roll Podcast, one of the world’s most listened to podcasts, with more than 200 million downloads.

✍️ Quote I am pondering

Free will is an illusion. Our wills are simply not of our own making. Thoughts and intentions emerge from background causes of which we are unaware and over which we exert no conscious control. We do not have the freedom we think we have.

Hey guys, This week I have been thinking about options and making decisions and around relating them to my future self. Often in life, we think about the present and in doing so we choose what is easy and comfortable right now. That is okay in some scenarios but we often don’t think about the person we are going to affect in the future with these decisions - our future self. Some decisions and choices we make in the present severely limit our options in the future and most can not be undone....

Hey guys, This past week I have been actively thinking about flexibility. Having flexibility in life is like a superpower I didn’t know I needed or had. The COVID-19 pandemic, if anything, has taught people, myself included, that flexibility is not something to compromise on. What is prompting this? My workplace is forcing everyone back into the office for full-time hours - 5 days a week. Almost zero flexibility unless there is a special need. This is absolutely not something I want to do...

Hey guys, So this week I have been thinking about my identity. I am a man, a father, a husband, a project manager, a photographer, an Australian, a Pakistani and a whole bunch of other things … do you think these are too many identities? Unfortunately, almost all of us, identify with way too many things. We have too many anchors in life. Often we switch between these identities depending on our social circumstances and morph through them over the course of our lives. I have written an article...
